THC and CBD, what’s the difference ?
What is the difference between thc and cbd? If you have smoked marijuana, you’ve probably heard of the psychoactive compound in the plant called THC (tetrahydracannabinol) . THC is the most famous among ganja compounds, it is the main element in the plant that gets you high. CBD’s are a non-psychoactive compound found in the plant, there are 483 compounds in the herb total. Even though CBD’s (cannabidiols) are non-psychoactive they are most certainly physiologically active. No strain of cannabis is the same, having completely unique levels of the 483 compounds. In general, sativa strains have a higher THC count, whereas indica strains have a higher CBD count.
If you smoke a strain of ganja with high levels of CBD’s then you will almost immediately become very very relaxed. It has a very sedative affect, and many medical qualities. This compound has been shown to help relieve inflammation, convulsions, anxiety, nausea, and even stop tumor and cancer cell development. It has been shown to help with insomnia, dealing with pain, and it even helped patients with MS who took CBD’s regularly. CBD’s are best for relaxation, if you want to lay in bed and jam out to some music for a few hours, CBD’s are right for you. This compound has also been shown to relieve the munchies.
THC on the other hand is more of a pick-me-up, this compound is what mainly gets you high and does not have nearly as many medicinal benefits as CBD’s do. However, the compound has been shown to drastically help patients with depression, extreme benefits in patients with PTSD and also in patients with eating disorders like anorexia. Usually people take it just for the psychoactivea benefits, but it can be affectively medically administered. Some speculate that the reason industrial hemp is illegal is because of the false notion that the hemp plant gets you high; in reality, hemp has under .3% THC content.
Who knows which is right for you but chances are if you like one, you’ll like the other.
