Reefer Madness – Strange Thoughts on Pot

THC as many of you may know stands for Tetrahydrocannabinol, the main chemical compound found in the cannabis sativa plant. Today the views of many have distorted about this wonderful chemical. This can mostly be blamed on the media as well as the public school system. To give an example, D.A.R.E (drug abuse resistance education), is a group that has access to the fresh young minds of America since 1983. Their stance on the cannabis plant is completely backwards, but yet they go from school to school preaching their opinion. Good thing they have the first amendment on their side. However, from a young age the youth of America have been turned against this wonderful herb.

Mass hysterical propaganda has been repeatedly released to the public, from articles like “Marihuana: the Assassin of Youth” to posters like “ Marijuana the Smoke of Hell!” It’s no wonder that the majority of the public is against the herb. However, in certain states the tables have begun to turn. Of the two and a half million Colorado citizens that voted on amendment 64, exactly 1,383,139 voted yes, whereas 1,116,894 voted no. From the moment that legislation was signed into legal effect all adults over the age of 21 were able to grow up to six cannabis plants in their home legally. Regardless of the mass subconscious programming that most of Americas average citizens have been subjected to, allot have attempted and succeeded in breaking those mental bonds.

I once heard THC referred to as the hate chemical. Said speaker ranted of reefer madness and all of the horrible side effects induced by the herb. In times like these I wonder of the true integrity of those speaking thusly, if they choose to lie due to some unnamed cause. Or perhaps their opinion is based around personal experience and this is where we must remember that each person is completely subjective and will therefore have completely subjective experiences around each individual substance. However when only one out of a hundred concludes such negative experiences from an herb I can’t help but trust in the good will of the plant and know that it means me, nor anyone else harm
